New Public Library Standards

1. Summary

1.1 The following decisions are sought:

i. That the assessment of the County Council's Public Library Standards Report 2004 and the changes to the Public Library Standards introduced in October 2004 be noted.

ii. That the County Council will continue to work towards the Public Library Standards.

2. Reason

2.1 The assessment of the County Council's Public Library Standards Report 2004 and the new Public Library Standards will assist the meeting of Aim 5 of the Corporate Strategy - Improving Services. The assessment score will be included in the County Council's Comprehensive Assessment (CPA) and the County Council will also be required to report its position against the new standards as part of the CIPFA return.
