Financial Assistance to Voluntary Organisations and other Bodies - Marwell Zoological Park, Colden Common

1. Summary

The following decision is sought:

That a contribution of £1,000 towards the new Snow Leopard enclosure at Marwell Zoological Park be approved from the Policy and Resources budget.

2. Reason

2.1 The present Snow Leopard enclosure is beyond further refurbishment and a Snow Leopard Appeal has been launched to raise the necessary funds for a new enclosure.

2.2 The contribution will support Corporate Aim 1 (Maximising life opportunities) and Aim 2 (Achieving Economic Prosperity) by ensuring the Park continues to be a successful and valued visitor attraction.

3. Other options considered and rejected

Providing no funding.

4. Conflicts of interest declared by the decision maker or other Executive Member consulted - Executive Member noted that Mrs. Thornber, wife of the Leader of the County Council, was a Trustee of the Snow Leopard Appeal.

5. Dispensation granted by the Standards Committee - Not applicable.

6. Reason(s) for the matter being dealt with if urgent - Not applicable.
