1. Summary

Following the Government's decision to withdraw the funding for the South

Hampshire Rapid Transit (SHRT) project pending a review of procurement

options, the County Council at its meeting on 25 November 2004 approved the

disbandment of the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) Development Panel and its

replacement with the Gosport Peninsula Access Panel. This new Panel will

assist the County Council to pursue a twin track approach and examine all

alternative means of improving access to the Gosport Peninsula. The Terms of

Reference of the Panel are set out in the attached appendix.

Aim 5 - Improving services
