1. Summary

1.1. The following decision is sought:

	That Councillor Mrs A. M. McNair Scott be appointed as the County Council's representative in place of Councillor Dr R. J. Ellis for the Hampshire School Organisation Committee meeting to be held on 4 February, 2005.

2. Reason(s)

The Hampshire SOC will next meet on 4 February, 2005, and to cover for the absence of Councillor Dr R.J. Ellis due exceptionally to other pressing commitments as the Chairman of the County Council's Health Review Committee, it is considered that an alternative member be appointed for this meeting only. Proportionality rules do not apply to the Local Education Authority elected members on the SOC but Department for Education and Skills (DfES) guidance recommends that the principle be followed. Therefore under County Council's rules, the appointment of a replacement for Councillor Dr R. J. Ellis is a matter for the Executive Member for Policy and Resources to determine.
