AMPFIELD CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL

PROPOSED CLOSURE

1. Notice is hereby given, in accordance with section 29 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, that Hampshire County Council, being the Local Education Authority, intends to discontinue Ampfield Church of England Primary School, at Ampfield in the Borough of Test Valley, with effect from 31 August 2006.

2. In order to achieve these intentions it is proposed that Ampfield Primary School will close at the end of the Summer Term 2006. Pupils affected by this closure, who are not due to transfer to secondary school in September 2006, can be accommodated in schools near their home address. Parental wishes will be taken into account, subject to places being available at the preferred schools. Transport will be provided for pupils who qualify in accordance with the Local Education Authority's published policy.

3. Any person may object to, or comment on, these proposals within the period of six weeks from the date of publication of this notice. Objections or comments should be in writing and addressed to Ian Lawson, Strategic Planning Unit, Education Department, Hampshire County Council, The Castle, Winchester, Hampshire SO23 8UG to arrive no later than 5 pm on 3 December 2004. Any objections or comments received, and not subsequently withdrawn in writing, together with the Local Education Authority's observations on them, will be submitted to the School Organisation Committee for Hampshire within one month after the closing date for representations.
