1. Summary

1.1 The Children Act is impacting in significant ways on the Education Department Structure in Hampshire. This, in turn, will affect the way in which Hampshire SACRE understands its role in relation to religious education

1.2 Inclusion, as a major implication of The Children Act, affects the role of schools and their responsibilities to young people

1.3 Changes have already been undertaken in Hampshire to respond to the implications of The Children Act and future plans and developments are being undertaken with regard to inclusion.

1.4 SACRE needs to understand its responsibilities in the light of these changes.

Recommendation

That SACRE note the report and consider ways in which The Children Act impacts on its role and responsibilities.
