The following decisions are sought:

   

1.1

That the Executive Member for Policy and Resources approves the project appraisal at Bishops Waltham House at an estimated cost of up to £455,000, excluding fees.

Reason(s)

   

2.1

To provide two new externally constructed evacuation lifts and a new fire alarm system throughout the building to improve safety for residents and allow 52 beds to remain in operation. This decision supports Aims 4 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing a safer environment and by improving services.

Other options considered and rejected

   

3.1

Alternative strategies for the provision of this accommodation have been considered. They are not viable or are significantly more expensive. The works set out in the project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost-effective way of providing two evacuation lifts and a new fire alarm system.
