Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the Executive Member for Policy and Resources approves the design project appraisal for Calmore Infant School at an estimated cost of up to £377,000, excluding fees.

Reason(s)

2.1

The proposal to carry out internal refurbishment works and reconfiguration of existing spaces to create an independent early years area for children aged 2-5 years, three reception classrooms, a language impairment unit and an area base for the Early Educational and Childcare Unit (EECU) will have an immediate benefit for all users of the school. It supports both Corporate Aims 1 and 5 by maximising life opportunities and improving services.

3.1

The need for the facilities provided by this scheme has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost-effective way of meeting that need.
