Summary of Bid (Details of proposed activity the money will be spent on) |
To contribute towards the capital costs of buying and installing Hampshire `CADDIE' - a system that will interpret information held on crime and disorder and allow the facility to overlay multi-agency data into a map format, as well as produce data in charts or graphs. CADDIE would be a force-wide system for the benefit of the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships in Hampshire. CADDIE has been approved in principle by the Chief Officers' Group, subject to the provision of exact costings and a full business case.
Timescale (anticipated period over which the money will be spent) |
One-off capital spend in March/April 2005.
How does this bid support the targets within the Community Strategy? |
CADDIE supports a main cross-cutting theme of the Community Strategy (Strong and safe Communities) particularly in helping to change perceptions of crime levels in Hampshire by sharing actual crime and disorder incidence rates with the public and between agencies. CADDIE also supports the following priority areas within the Community Strategy: · Priority 1a: `Tackling deprivation [through mapping] [...] issues in health, education, employment, transport etc. to gain a strategic view'. CADDIE is capable of mapping and overlaying information from an extremely diverse range of sources in order to make comparative geographical and historical studies of crime and disorder. This will help enormously in creating a strategic view of crime and disorder in the County. Currently it is anticipated that CADDIE will initially store information on crime and fire incidents, education exclusions and youth offending data and information from Districts and Boroughs. However, future developments are already being investigated through the CDRPs. · Priority 7a: `Information sharing protocols with district LSPs and all agencies'. CADDIE is a web-facing application accessible by any partner with access to an internet browser, thus engaging most - if not all - of the partnerships. This will comply with e-Government directives. Partners will be able to view the level of crime and disorder as recorded by all contributing partners on a map as thematic, hot-spot or point data. This will allow better and more intelligence-led partnership activity i.e. wardens, police and fire service could be better deployed.
