1 APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN

RESOLVED:

That Councillor J. West be appointed Chairman.

2 APPLICATION BY WALLOP DEFENCE SYSTEMS LTD UNDER THE EXPLOSIVES ACT 1875

The Panel considered an application under the Explosives Act 1875 (Item 2 in the Minute Book) which had been submitted by the Wallop Defence Systems Ltd for the County Council's assent to the establishment of a factory for explosives at Craydown Lane, Middle Wallop, Hampshire. The Chief Executive informed Members that no objections had been received.

The Panel welcomed Mr. J. Taylor, Managing Director of Wallop Defence Systems Ltd, Mr. G. McGowan, Safety Manager of Wallop Defence Systems Ltd and Mr. M. Window, Principal Trading Standards Officer. Members questions concerning the construction, layout, operation and safety of the site were answered by Mr Taylor and Mr McGowan.

RESOLVED:

That assent be given, on behalf of the County Council, to Wallop Defence Systems Ltd, Craydown Lane, Middle Wallop for the establishment of a factory for explosives, without conditions.
