1 Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought.

1. That authority be given to the Director of Social Services to negotiate a single tender for the provision of domiciliary care services in the Fareham/Gosport area.

2 Reason

2.1 This proposal will give security of service to Fareham/Gosport older people to enable them to remain at home.

2.2 Security of service supports Aim 1 of the Corporate Strategy `Maximising Life Opportunities' by enabling older people to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. The focus on quality and cost contributes to Aim 5 `Improving Services' and the partnership approach with local care providers assists with Aim 3 `Achieving Economic Prosperity'.

3 Other options considered and rejected

Competitive tendering considered but discounted for reasons of continuity of service to vulnerable older people and market mix in the area.
