1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That authority be given to the Director of Social Services to negotiate a single
tender to provide support and cultural service to care staff recruited from Europe .

2. Reason

2.1 This proposal will help the County Council service the new nursing homes joint development with Health.

2.2 This proposal supports Aim 1 of the Corporate Strategy `Maximising Life Opportunities'. The partnership approach with the service provider assists with Aim 3 `Achieving Economic Prosperity', the focus on quality and cost contributes to Aim 5 `Improving Services' and developing staff to deliver appropriate services accords with Aim 6 "Developing Councillors and Staff".

Other potential European initiatives explored but discounted because of assessed scale of the requirement and costs.
