Hampshire County Council Policy and Resources Scrutiny and Select Committee Item 10 11 April 2005 Ampfield Church of England Primary School Report of the Chief Executive |
Contact: Colin Hinxman - Ext: 7343 [email protected]
1. The attached report on the future of Ampfield CE Primary School was considered as an urgent key decision by the Cabinet at its meeting on 21 March. The Chairman of the Committee gave his agreement, under Section 100B(4)(b) of the Local Government Act 1972, for this item to be included on the agenda to enable the Council to reconsider its earlier decision to close Ampfield Church of England Primary School. The item was therefore considered without the necessary period of prior notice.
2. Under Part 3:C, paragraph 1.17 of the Constitution, decisions taken as a matter of urgency must be reported to the next appropriate meeting of the relevant Policy Review Committee, together with a statement of reasons for the urgency. In this case, the item needed to be added to the agenda in time for the Council's revised decision, to keep the school open, to be notified to the Schools Adjudicator before a final decision was made on the Council's previous statutory proposal to close the school.
RECOMMENDATION:
That this report on the urgent decision and the reasons for it be noted.
