Major Projects Status Report

Summary

The following decisions are sought:

1 That the additional funding added to the major capital projects at pre-contract stage, previously approved by the Executive Members for Education and Policy and Resources at design project appraisal stage, be approved.

2 That approval be given to the schemes being undertaken at various secondary schools under the NDS Modernisation 2005/06 Schools Specialist Accommodation Programme.

Reason(s)

2.1

To provide enhanced science laboratory, food technology and textile laboratory accommodation at various secondary schools

2.2

This decision supports Aims 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing improved school facilities which will benefit the school and its users and allow service delivery.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

The need of the school for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost-effective way of meeting that need.
