COUNCIL MEETING, 16 MAY 2005

REPORT OF THE

Cabinet / Leader

PART II

PROJECT INTEGRA

1. On 25 April 2005, the Cabinet considered a report bringing to their attention the serious concerns of the Executive Member for Environment following a Project Integra Management Board meeting held on 7 April 2005. As a result, the County Council is considering withdrawing from the executive arrangements fulfilled by the Board over what it sees as a lack of shared vision in regard to the purpose of the executive, the way it needs to develop to meet future challenges such as to achieve a significantly higher rate of recycling household waste, and to effectively accommodate the needs of local business and industry.

2. The County Council remains firmly committed in its desire to continue to work with all the local authorities in Hampshire, and to the concept of Project Integra. Therefore, a number of options will be discussed with the Hampshire local authorities in an endeavour to test whether partnership arrangements can be re-designed to enable the delivery of cost effective services for businesses and residents in Hampshire.
