PART II

SCHOOL TERM AND HOLIDAY DATES 2006/07

1. The Executive Member for Education has considered alternative patterns of school term and holiday dates for 2006/07 after full consultations with teacher professional associations both at a local and a national level and with neighbouring authorities. All schools also received copies of the two alternative schedules for 2006/07.

2. The school term and holiday dates for 2006/07 adopted by the Executive Member are set out in the Appendix to this report. They adhere to the general recommendations made by the Local Government Association for "reasonable standardisation", whilst retaining the 195 day model and two complete weeks at Easter as preferred by Hampshire schools.

3. The above decision supports aim 1 of the Corporate Strategy (maximising life opportunities) by facilitating planning for learning in schools.
