SAFER ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROGRAMME 2005/06
The Transport Capital Programme 2005/06 provides the sum of £1.5m for the 2005/06 Safer Routes to School Programme, to be spent on the design and implementation of schemes. The Executive Member has now approved a programme outlining the expected implementation of the Safer Routes to School Schemes at a total estimated cost of £1.8m with £1.5m being spent in 2005/06. In addition he has authorised preparatory work to be undertaken on the provisional programme for 2006/07. Full lists of both these sets of schemes, which are spread across all the district councils in Hampshire, is available on /decisions-index/index-docs-6076 Typical schemes include speed reducing features, improved signing and lining and enhanced facilities for pedestrians, but there are also, for example, schemes for the provision of cycle shelters at schools.
