1. Summary

1.1 The following decisions are sought:

1. That authority be given to the Director of Social Services to negotiate a single tender for the provision of a supported employment service for people with a mental health problem in South West Hampshire.

2. Reason

This proposal will secure the provision of a supported employment service for people with a mental health problem in line with the Mental Health National Service Framework, the outcome of the Best Value Review on supported employment services and the local joint strategy for such services agreed with Health and Southampton City Council.

The commissioning of supported employment services for people with a mental health problem is a significant part of the County Council's equal opportunities approach to achieving Aim 1 "Maximising Life Opportunities" by helping people with a mental health problem to find work. Supporting local firms to employ them assists with Aim 3 "Achieving Economic Prosperity" and focus on quality and cost contributes to Aim 5 "Improving Services".
