1.1 The following decision is sought:
This report seeks agreement to an increase in the cost of school meals from £1.50 to £1.55 per meal from September 2005, an increase of 3.3%.
2 Reason
The need to reflect increased costs by higher charges. This decision supports aim 5 of the Corporate Strategy (Improving Services) by ensuring that the price of school meals matches closely the funding available for free school meals.
3 Other Options considered and rejected:
Holding the price constant until details of the new national funding for the additional food content were clear, or an increase in the price of meals to either £1.56 or £1.60.
