Summary

1.1

The following decisions are sought:

That the Executive Member for Education advises the Executive Member for Policy and Resources that approval be given to the project appraisal for the works at the Costello Technology College at an estimated cost of up to £4,910,000, excluding fees.

Reason(s)

2.1

To provide permanent, purpose-built technology/maths accommodation to replace the temporary classrooms which were provided following a fire at the school in 2003.

2.2

This decision supports Aims 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing improved facilities for all users of the school.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

The need of the school for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost-effective way of meeting that need.
