PURPOSE:

To equip and support the conversion of a double deck bus into a mobile youth work project. The equipment would be mostly IT multimedia system providing a flexible and responsive environment for workshops, presentations, education and entertainment in the bus.

CYO RECOMMENDATION:

The development of a mobile project in Hart will extend and enhance the range of youth work opportunities for young people, especially with those who find it difficult to access existing provision. This is a new venture and supported by the District Youth Work Team.

A grant of £4,000 is recommended.

Organisation: Stanmore Youth Centre Ltd - The Carroll Youth Centre, Winchester

PURPOSE:

A professional music artist will work closely with 20 young people aged 13 - 19, over two 10 week courses learning how to use the new music equipment, bought as part of this project to create music, gain deeper knowledge, understanding and skills producing music events for their peers. Young people will use their newly acquired transferable skills to educate, inform and teach their peers how to use the equipment and produce creative music. Young people's outcomes will be recorded and accredited.

CYO RECOMMENDATION:

The project plan is in response to a request from a group of challenging young men who are involved with the Carroll Youth Centre. The project meets the needs of a hard to reach group and the staff have worked effectively with the young people to develop their ideas. The experience will provide opportunities for young people, to learn new skills, accredit and record learning.

A grant of £2,000 is recommended.

PURPOSE:

Basingstoke Voluntary Services provide a safe environment where young deaf women (and invited hearing friends) meet monthly, organising workshops and social activities and encouraging a positive attitude towards deafness. Through shared experiences the project aim to develop the young women's social skills and build their self esteem. The grant will fund materials, sessional staff, interpreters, activities refreshments. Sessions include; signing skills, assertiveness training, social activities, capacity building and discussions.

PURPOSE:

The grant would be used to contribute towards sessional worker fees, rent and miscellaneous

expenses for two groups of young people with severe disabilities.

The groups help the young people to develop social skills, behavior management skills, basic literacy and numeracy, and information technology skills. The groups also combat social isolation.

The group has strong support from the local Special Needs School.
