Summary

   

1.1

The following decisions are sought:

   
 

i)

that approval be given to the disposal of 0.72 hectares (1.78 acres) at Chestnut Avenue, Nightingale Primary School, , Eastleigh;

     
 

ii)

that the first £750,000 of the capital receipt be retained to repay the unsupported borrowing approved for the project and thereafter up to £150,000 of the residual capital receipt to be added to the Education Capital Programme to finance extensions to the Nightingale Primary School;

     
 

iii)

that authority be given to the Director of Property, Business and Regulatory Services (Head of Estates Practice) to finalise and complete a Section 106 legal Agreement to secure outline planning consent for housing on this site.

Reason

   

2.1

To improve primary education provision in the locality funded by the sale of a redundant property asset.

   

2.2

This decision supports the following Aims of the Corporate Strategy

   
 

Aim 2 - Stewardship of the environment by ensuring good design of the proposed housing developments through the design/offer marketing process.

   
 

Aim 5 - Improving services by reinvesting the net sale proceeds in the refurbishment and extension of Nightingale Primary School.
