1 Summary

1.1 This report considers the plans for achieving the savings targets within the 2005/06 Policy and Resources budget and for the redeployment of some of the savings to meet budget pressures and high priority service developments.

1.2 The following decisions are sought:

i) to approve the plans for achieving savings of £1,002m included within the Policy and Resources 2005/06 budget and for the contingency allocations for the Civil Contingencies Act (£60,000) and Asbestos and Disability Discrimination Act management (£250,000) outlined in the report.

1 Reason

1.1 Regular budget monitoring reports are submitted to the Executive Member throughout the year. The purpose of this initial 2005/06 report is to confirm that plans are in place to achieve the savings target in the budget and to agree the allocation of sums earmarked within the contingency where the business case has been developed.
