Funding for Solent Peoples Theatre

1. Summary

1.1 The following Decision was sought:

That the final instalment of £7,500 is paid to Solent Peoples Theatre to their Critical Engagement project from the 2005/06 Policy and Resources grants budget. This is the final grant from the County Council for this project.

2. Reason

2.1 The results of the Solent Peoples Theatre's Critical Engagement project are considered to have been good enough to recommend the final instalment of the grant to be paid. The project explored ways in which theatre can be used to re-enliven local democracy and addressed the desire within the Corporate Strategy to build strong and safe communities by getting people to engage with the ways in which communities decide their futures at the ballot box.

3. Other options considered and rejected - not funding the final instalment.
