1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That the development of Rural Discovery Centres is supported and that officers investigate methods of providing this service looking particularly at the parishes suffering most from rural deprivation.

 2. Reason

2.1 Rural Discovery Centres will help meet the corporate aims of building strong and safe communities, and of improving services. This will be done by tackling the rural disadvantages of limited access to information and essential services.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected.

- Concentrating the advantages of Discovery Centres in areas with

substantial populations and expecting people to travel to access

services.

4. Conflicts of interest declared by the decision maker or other Executive Member consulted - None.

5. Dispensation by the Standards Committee - Not applicable.

6. Reasons for the matter being dealt with if urgent - Not applicable.
