Proposed Appointments to Hampshire Countryside Access Forum

1. Summary

 

1.1 The following decisions are sought:

    i) That the Executive Member for Recreation and Heritage approve the proposed membership of Hampshire Countryside Access Forum as described in this report.

    ii) That the Executive Member for Recreation and Heritage formally recognises the contribution of the Access Forum to date in informing County Council Policy, and conveys the appreciation of Elected Members for their work and advice.

    (iii) That the issue of the possible appointment of Councillor Carol Boulton as a 22nd member of the Forum be deferred pending further discussions with Portsmouth City and Southampton City Councils.

2. Reason

 

2.1 The Hampshire County Council has a statutory duty under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 to appoint a Local Access Forum. National Regulations require the Forum to be re-established every three years which is now due.

    The activities of this body fully supports Hampshire County Council's corporate objectives in terms of aims 2 (Stewardship of the environment), 4 (Building strong and safe communities) and 5 (Improving services) of the Corporate Strategy.
