Summary of Bid

(Details of proposed activity the money will be spent on)

To fund research and an event led by the Eastleigh Borough Youth Council (EBYC) concerning transport for young people. EBYC has identified that issues about transport and in particular busses is a priority for them in this year.

Funding would be required for:

· questionnaires £350

· questionnaire analysis £250

· transport for young people £200

· publicity £500,

· venue hire £170,

· refreshments for event £650 (relate to an event the EBYC would hold to publicise the findings from the research, for around 100 people including members of youth council, HCC and EBC staff and Members, transport providers and young people)

EBYC would like to carry our some research into the transport needs of young people. They would do this through various means including the new "The Fing" Dance nights for young people, organised in partnership with Hampshire County Youth Services. In addition contact would be made through schools and colleges. It is anticipated that following the research an event would be organised by EBYC for young people, public transport providers and relevant agencies.

The results of the research and event will be able to feed into transport plans

How does this bid support the targets within the Community Strategy?

This bid support the transport target. In particular relating to:

· developing transport options

and

· having transport which meets the needs of students in fulltime education.

Overall funding arrangements

Hampshire County Youth Service and the Borough Council staff support EBYC. The Borough has provided a grant of £500 for general running costs of EBYC.
