Summary of Bid

(Details of proposed activity the money will be spent on)

The funding will be used to host and support the establishment of a Hampshire Wide interfaith forum.

Initially, a conference will be in November 2005 to bring together people from different faiths from across Hampshire.

The aim will be to establish a Forum to

· Share and celebrate the diversity of faiths and cultures in Hampshire

· Encourage and promote the knowledge and understanding of beliefs and practices of religious faiths and denominations, recognising common ground between the religions and their unique characteristics.

· Consult and co-operate in social and racial issues and other matters of material concern

· Sustain community harmony and strengthen Hampshire society

· Open channels of communication between various faith communities and the wider public

· Enhance understanding of issues faced by different faith communities

The Forum would also specifically also strengthen links between various faith communities and the Hampshire Strategic Partnership
