Summary

1.1

The following decisions are sought:

That the Director of Property, Business and Regulatory Services be authorised to negotiate with landowners of the preferred sites for the new primary school in Whiteley, and report on the outcome to a future meeting.

Reason

2.1

To meet the County Council's requirement for a new 1 form entry primary school to serve the Whiteley area.

2.2

This decision supports the following Aims of the Corporate Strategy

Aim 1 - Maximising life opportunities by supporting strategies for the most appropriate education provision.

Aim 2 - Stewardship of the environment by ensuring Whiteley is provided with new school facilities whilst retaining important recreational open space.

Aim 4 - Building strong and safe communities by locating any new school in a sustainable location that complements existing education facilities.

Aim 5 - Improving services by contributing to the raising of educational standards.
