ADULT LEARNING PLAN
1. As a result of the County Council's `excellent' status, the Adult Learning Plan no longer requires the County Council's approval but a brief report is made here for the Council's information.
2. Among the Plan's strategic objectives for 2005/2006 are learning opportunities for adults with low skills; family learning provision, targeting any development in priority areas; supporting schools in becoming centres of learning in their communities; encouraging a culture of continuous quality improvement and collaborating with other adult learning providers in Hampshire. The most significant changes put forward in the plan, however, are lowering the target number of learners in 2005/06 as a consequence of reduced funding; introducing more coherent progression routes, particularly within the Family Learning programmes; introducing a new fees policy and working with staff in Social Services to deliver provisions for adults with learning disabilities and/or learning difficulties.
3. The Adult Learning Plan supports all six aims of the Corporate Strategy by securing high quality learning opportunities, by enabling local delivery of services, by ensuring continuous development of skills, by developing effective partnerships, by promoting continuous improvement throughout the service and through access to a professional development programme. A copy of the Plan is in the Members' Room.
