1. Summary
1.1 This report details items raised by Rushmoor Members for consideration by the Panel.
2. Conservation Areas - Councillor David Clifford
2.1 The standard of maintenance of the highway including street lighting, road and footway repairs (as well as maintenance by Rushmoor such as street cleaning) should be to a higher standard than in other areas. This also means that the type and style of street furniture, signs, lamp columns, bollards, paving for new works should also be to a higher standard.
2.2 It is recognised that this will require either a change in priority of budgets to allow for the higher costs necessary to enable this or that additional funding should be found.
3. Bus Lanes - Councillor David Clifford
3.1 At the last meeting in March Members were advised that a review of the impact and effectiveness of the Route 1 Quality Bus Partnership scheme on the A325 Farnborough Road, Farnborough would be carried out during the spring and summer of 2005. A report has not been made available ahead of this meeting. It is expected that the review will take into account the effect on traffic and bus patronage as well as the safety aspects of the bus lanes, in particular the detail at the end of bus lanes where the bus needs to merge with other traffic.
4. Inefficiency of Action from this Committee - Councillor David Clifford
4.1 While it is understood that this forum was set up as an Advisory Panel with no decision making role, the benefit of this Panel as anything other than an information sharing meeting should be questioned.
5. Cove Village - Traffic Management Study - Councillor John Matthews
5.1 The proposal to include Cove village in the Regeneration of Older Urban Areas is welcomed. However there is a need to carry out a comprehensive study of traffic management, including parking and safety engineering, of this area so that any current problems about its present use are resolved within any environmental enhancements.
6. Impact Assessments
6.1 As this report sets out issues raised by Rushmoor Members an impact assessment in terms of the Race Relations (Amendment) Act has not been undertaken.
