1. Summary
1.1 The purpose of this report is to provide an update of the progress made in implementing those schemes in the Education Capital Programme with a value of between £43,000 and £216,000 (exclusive of fees).
2. Current Position
2.1 The attached tables summarise the current position in relation to schemes funded by the Education 2004/05 and 2005/06 Capital Programme including Minor Works, Seed Challenge, William Price Trust, Schools Access Initiative (SAI), New Opportunities Fund (NOF) and Staff Workplaces budget. The tables provide details of the funding, a brief description of the works and a summary of the current position.
3. Education Minor Works 2005/06
3.1 Alderman Quilley School, Eastleigh
The residue of the NOF funding from the sports hall project (£18,000), together with School Devolved Capital of £15,000, Environment - Safe Routes to School 04/05 funding of £76,120 and a contribution of £40,000 from the P&R External Works Budget 05/06 will be used to undertake car park relocation works, new access roads, footpaths and cycleways.
Works are due to commence on site during September 2005, with completion anticipated in December 2005.
4. Schools Access Initiative (SAI) / Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 2005/06
4.1 Fordingbridge Junior School
An allocation of £49,000 has been made in the Education Capital Programme SAI 2005/06 for works to upgrade and modify the accessible wc facilities.
Works are due to commence on site during September 2005 with completion anticipated during November 2005.
5. William Price Trust 2005/06
5.1 Heathfield Special School, Fareham
An allocation of £57,000 has been made in the Capital Programme 2005/06 which together with School devolved capital of £24,000 will be used to improve and extend the existing Early Years play area.
It is anticipated that works will commence on site during January 2006 with completion anticipated during March 2006.
6. Specialist School College Status Allocations 2004/05
6.1 Alderman Quilley Secondary School, Eastleigh
An allocation of £87,000 has been made in the Capital Programme 2005/06, which together with School devolved capital of £18,500 and NDS Modernisation funding of £43,500, will be used to provide new entrance doors and ramp, also internal refurbishment and electrical/mechanical works.
£5,000 of the funding is to be used for a small package of enabling works for the removal of asbestos ceilings. This work is due to commence in September.
It is anticipated that the main works will commence on site during October 2005, with completion during December 2005.
Recommendation
1. That the changes to the minor works programme be approved.
