The following decision is sought:
Approval to tender and let a four year contract, for the supply of wireless technology equipment under a Wireless Technology Framework Agreement, to address business requirements as they arise.
4. Reasons
To enable use of wireless solutions within buildings to support Council aims as described in the associated confidential report.
5. Other options considered and rejected
There are no comparable alternatives to wireless technology for mobile solutions.
Wireless technology is an alternative solution to standard cabling for fixed solutions, and in some cases will be a preferred solution (e.g. in some listed buildings), but will not completely replace it.
