The following decision is sought:
Approval to tender and let a five year extendable contract for the supply of a consolidated UNIX infrastructure solution.
4. Reasons
To improve efficiency of operation, support and management of the Council's UNIX server estate, and to increase flexibility and capacity to meet changing business requirements, as described in the associated confidential report.
5. Other options considered and rejected
The alternative is to acquire and replace UNIX servers on an individual basis as now, which reduces opportunities for efficiencies and can impact the Council's ability to rapidly respond to changing business needs in areas served by associated applications.
