UK Youth Parliament

June - September 2005

Hampshire MYP's have been as busy as ever with many projects and meetings taking place. The highlights are:

Basingstoke & Test Valley North MYP

    · Set up meeting with transport providers and young people to discuss and start the campaign for student fares

    · Met with senior managers at local hospital to put forward views of young people who have experienced treatment there, with the future plans to elect local youth council members to discuss this on a regular basis

    · Produced materials and publicised the UKYP to local young people

Deputy

    · Attended Hampshire Local Authority meeting

    · Attended International Summer School in India

East Hants & Havant MYP

    · Met with council and local young people to identify issues and further actions to address those issues

    · Attended Climate Change campaign event in London

    · Chaired regional meeting at British Youth Council convention

Deputy

    · Attended Children and Young People's reference group

    · Attended Law & Society select committee for South East region

Eastleigh & Winchester MYP

    · Arranged meeting with MP and local young people to discuss local issues

    · Planned and ran HCYC's event day

New Forest & Test Valley South MYP & deputy

    · Attended residential in Latvia

Hart & Rushmoor MYP

    · Set up local youth council and promoted it via a stall at air show

    · Chaired a UKYP regional meeting

Fareham & Gosport MYP

    · Attended a senior managers meeting of HCC and other organisations in order to input to the Children & Young People's plan

    · Attended Law & Society select committee for South East region

Deputy

    · Attended Hampshire Local Authority meeting

    · Attended International Summer School in India

6 of the MYP's attended the UK Youth Parliaments National Sitting in Leicester where they formulated the plans for campaigns for the coming year, attended fringe meetings and questioned MP's including Hazel Blears.
