1 Summary

Applications have been received from people in Hampshire undertaking expeditions, overseas and personal development projects. These grants, if awarded, would support Aim 1 of the Corporate Strategy by maximising life opportunities. Applicants' details are as follows:-

1.1 Jeanette Robson, Midanbury, Southampton

Jeanette is 18 years old and is studying at Barton Peverill College in Eastleigh. She has been chosen to take part in an International Guiding Camp in India which is being held in August next year. The event is to last for three weeks where she will meet up with other guides from across the world and discuss each others cultures. Jeanette will also be involved with a service project such as rebuilding/refurbishing a local school.

Cost of trip is £1,500 and so far Jeanette has managed to raise £1,200.

Recommendation: £150

1.2 Sophia Peszkowski, Andover

Sophia is 14 years of age and attends Test Valley School in Stockbridge. She has been selected to participate in a guiding expedition in the Kamuli district of Uganda during August next year. This will involve helping to build a classroom block and toilets and once built equipping the building with all necessary materials for lessons to take place.

Recommendation: £150

1.3 Caroline Fox, Sparsholt

Caroline is currently in her gap year before going to Bristol University next September. In April next year she will be travelling with a volunteer organisation called POD (Personal Overseas Development) to Peru to help in a catholic orphanage for three months. The cost of this placement is £4,000 and Caroline is currently working as a carer to help pay for this trip.
