Summary

   

1.1

The following decision is sought:

   
 

That, subject to the comments of the Buildings, Land & Procurement Panel, the Executive Member (Policy & Resources) gives approval to the disposal of 0.08 ha (0.2 acre) of land to the rear of Romsey Library to Test Valley Borough Council on the basis set out in the report and on other detailed terms and conditions to be settled by the Director of Property, Business & Regulatory Services (Head of Estates).

Reasons

   

2.1

This proposal will provide the necessary funding to make the reinvestment scheme feasible enabling improvements and enhancements to be made to library facilities in Romsey.

   

2.2

This decision supports the following Aims of the Corporate Strategy

   
 

Aim 1 - Maximising life opportunities by reinvesting the proceeds from the sale of the land to the Romsey Library refurbishment scheme.

   
 

Aim 3 -Achieving economic prosperity by enhancing the stock of public car parking which is vital to the economic vitality of Romsey.

   
 

Aim 5 - Improving services by providing capital to fund the improvements and enhancements to library facilities in Romsey.

In light of the benefits afforded to the County Council by this proposal, no alternative options relating to the disposal of the site are currently being considered.
