Burnham Copse Infant School

The school had its last OfSTED Inspection in May 2004 and was judged to be a good school overall with the leadership and management being very good. In January 2005 the annual categorization visit undertaken by the attached inspector found the school to be an effective school which provides the children with a good quality of education.

Burnham Copse Junior School

The annual categorization visit undertaken by the attached inspector in January 2005 resulted in the school being categorized as unsatisfactory due to concerns over standards of attainment and pupil progress being below expectations. This has been the improvement focus of the school with support from Children's Services. The headteacher of the infant school has also been acting headteacher of the junior school since September 2004, with the two schools' governing bodies and staff working collaboratively. Considerable work has been undertaken improving assessment strategies, structures and the curriculum to ensure learning is both meaningful and matched to children's needs.
