Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the Executive Member for Education advises the Executive Member for Policy and Resources that the design project appraisal for the Havant BESD (behavioural, emotional and social difficulties) School (a replacement for The Sundridge School), an estimated cost of up to £4,782,000, excluding fees, be approved.

Reason(s)

2.1

To provide a purpose-built school for secondary school children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. The facilities will also benefit the local community during out-of-school hours.

2.2

This decision supports Aims 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing improved facilities for all users of the facility.

3.1

The need for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost-effective way of meeting that need.
