1. Summary
1.1 The purpose of this report is to provide an update of the progress made in implementing those schemes in the Education Capital Programme with a value of between £43,000 and £216,000 (exclusive of fees).
2. Current Position
2.1 The attached tables summarise the current position in relation to schemes funded by the Education 2004/05 and 2005/06 Capital Programme including Minor Works, Seed Challenge, William Price Trust, Schools Access Initiative (SAI), New Opportunities Fund (NOF) and Staff Workplaces budget. The tables provide details of the funding, a brief description of the works and a summary of the current position.
3. Minor Works Capital Programme 2005/06
3.1 Chase Children's Centre, Bordon
An allocation of £43,104, excluding fees, has been made in the Capital Programme 2005/06 to provide an extension to the existing office accommodation and a ramped access to the Centre.
This scheme will be negotiated with a preferred contractor with a view to commencing works on site during February 2006.
4. Staff Workplace 2004/05
4.1 Burley Primary School, Ringwood
An allocation of £39,311, excluding fees, has been made in the Capital Programme 2005/06 for a small extension to provide additional office accommodation. The school is making a contribution of £30,000, excluding fees, to the cost. It is proposed to tender these works during February 2006 with an anticipated start on site during February 2006 and completion during July 2006.
5. Schools Access Initiative (SAI) / Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 2005/06
5.1 Bohunt Community School, Liphook
Funding of £57,800, excluding fees, has been made available in the 2005/06 Capital Programme for acoustics improvements and formation of a quiet room. It is proposed to tender the works during January 2006 and to carry out the works during April 2006.
Recommendation
1. That the changes to the minor works programme be approved.
