Finalising membership of Hampshire Countryside Access Forum

1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

i) That the Executive Member for Recreation and Heritage confirms that, following correspondence with Portsmouth and Southampton City Councils, no additional Hampshire County Council elected member representative will be proposed to the membership of the Hampshire Countryside Access Forum.

2. Reason

2.1 The work of the Countryside Service is closely linked to Aim 2, Stewardship of the Environment, and to Aim 1, Maximising Life Opportunities. The Forum advises the Council on policy and strategy, ensuring consultation with interest groups prior to adoption.

2.2 As this is a joint Local Access Forum with Portsmouth and Southampton City Councils, any change to the constitution, to provide for an additional County Council member representative, would require the agreement of both City Councils. Discussions have indicated that such agreement would not be forthcoming.
