1. Summary

The following decision is sought.

That the Executive Lead Member for Children's Services appoints Councillor S. James to serve in place of Councillor Mrs. P.A. West on the Southeast Hampshire Adoption Panel until 19 January 2009.

2. Reasons

2.1 At the Executive Member for Children's Services decision day on 15 December, 2005, various Members were reappointed to the newly formed Adoption Panels including Councillor Mrs. P.A. West to the Southeast Hampshire Adoption Panel.

2.2 Councillor Mrs. P.A. West has indicated that she is no longer available to serve as a Member on the Southeast Hampshire Adoption Panel which leaves a vacancy. Councillor S. James has indicated a wish to fill the position. In accordance with the Adoption Agencies Regulations 2005, this appointment will be for a term of three years with the opportunity to serve for a further three years. All Panel appointments are subject to annual appraisals.

2.3 The decision sought supports Aims 4 and 6 of the Corporate Strategy.
