Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the design project appraisal for the works at the Havant BESD School, including the access road, at an estimated cost of £4,782,000, excluding fees, be approved.

Reason(s)

2.1

To provide a purpose-built school for secondary school children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, on a site which is currently not used. The facilities will also benefit the local community during out-of-school hours.

2.2

This decision supports Aims 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing improved facilities for all users of the facility.

3.1

The need for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost-effective way of meeting that need.
