Funding for The Public Catalogue Foundation `Art in Hampshire Collections'

1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That £20,000 of funding is paid to The Public Catalogue Foundation to contribute to the costs of producing a Catalogue of Art held in Public Collections within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. £10,000 is to come from the 2006/07 Policy and Resources grants budget and £10,000 from Property, Business and Regulatory Services' 2006/07 budget.

2. Reason

The Public Catalogue Foundation are proposing to produce two catalogues listing over 5000 oil and acrylic paintings held in public collections in Hampshire, Southampton, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. This funding will support the production of these catalogues as a record of the art held in collections across the Hampshire area.

This project supports the Corporate Strategy to maximise life opportunities by creating an opportunity for people to access information and images of the art held locally in public collections.
