AT A MEETING of the APPOINTMENT PANEL of the COUNTY COUNCL held at The Castle, Winchester on 3 February 2006.

Councillors:

1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

Apologies for absence were received from Councillor Woodhall. The Leader of the County Council had requested that Councillor Davidovitz attend due to the absence of Councillor Woodhall.

2. DECLARATION OF INTERESTS

Members were mindful that, where they believed they had a personal or personal prejudicial interest in any matter to be considered at the meeting, they should normally at the time of the debate, declare their interest, and, having regard to the circumstances described in paragraphs 9, 10, 11 and 12 of the County Council's Code of Conduct, consider whether to leave the meeting whilst the matter was discussed.

2. APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN

RESOLVED:

That Councillor T.K. Thornber, CBE, be appointed Chairman of the Panel.

3. CHAIRMAN'S COMMUNICATIONS

There were no communications.

4. EXCLUSION OF THE PRESS AND PUBLIC

RESOLVED:

That by virtue of paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the item referred to in Minute 5 below.

5. APPOINTMENT OF ASSISTANT DIRECTOR CHILDREN'S SERVICES (PERFORMANCE AND RESOURCES)

The Panel considered confidential details of the short-listed candidates for the post of Assistant Director Children's Services (Performance and Resources). They received presentations from the Recruitment Consultants' Occupational Psychologist prior to interviewing the candidates. After full consideration it was

That the Cabinet be advised that the Panel recommend the appointment of Felicity Roe.
