PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SPECIALIST SCHOOLS' TRUST AND HAMPSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
1. The Executive Member for Education has approved an agreement between the County Council and the Specialist Schools' and Academies Trust (SSAT) in support of school improvement in Hampshire. This partnership between the two organisations will help to coordinate the support of secondary schools and the work of networks that exist between them.
2. The purpose of the agreement, which is the first of its kind in the country, is to establish areas of collaboration between schools, the County Council and the SSAT. These are expected to include the identification and dissemination of excellent/ innovative practice; the role of school leaders; schools' support; subject specific improvement; linking schools with wider community; self evaluation and strategic planning; working with governors and links with other partner organisations.
3. On behalf of the Council and the SSAT, a number of actions are in the process of being taken to implement and promote the new joint working in the areas referred to above. The initiative is also expected to increase the range of opportunities schools are able to offer, provide coherence in the support they receive and facilitate the dissemination of best practice.
4. The above decision supports aims 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy.
