Budget 2005/06: Position Statement

1.1 The Executive member for Adult Social Care received a budget position statement at her January meeting based on data for the first seven months of the year which showed a projected overspend of £5.5m due, essentially, to increases in the amount of care provided. There are strong and serious indications that the position has substantially deteriorated from the January statement. A detailed analysis of the position will be presented to the Adult Social Care Policy Review Committee and Executive Member in March with further recommendations to stabilise the budget. This will not prevent necessary management action being taken prior to those meetings.

Recommendation

1 That a review of the budget position for 2005/06 be carried out and a more detailed report be considered in March 2006.
