Activities in Eastleigh area
Summer 2005
Playscheme at Crestwood School : 22nd - 26th Aug : 10 am to 2 pm.
This will be staffed by volunteers from the ECS-based "Millennium Volunteers" project. Age group : 5 - 11 years.
Cost £ 25 per week (includes squash and biscuits).

Kids for Life Activity Camps (Fleming Park Leisure Centre)
These activity weeks run throughout the summer holidays.
For children aged 4 - 12 years.
Standard day 10 am - 4 pm = £18
Extended day 8.30 am - 6 pm = £21
Standard week Mon - Fri, 10 - 4 pm = £85
Extended week Mon - Fri, 8.30 - 6 pm = £95
(KFL also run soccer camps at the same venue with the same costings)

Education Welfare Service - activity days for Yrs 7 and 8
This is a no-charge scheme only for vulnerable young people and is running instead of the residential camps that have previously been organised. The scheme involves taking the children out for various activities, on Thursdays, during the summer. For more information contact the appropriate EWO for your child's school.
Toynbee Pupils Only (letters have gone out to pupils)
Activity week funded by the Lottery / Skill Quest.
Years 7 and 8 : Theatre and Entertainment Week : 25 - 29th July
A range of activities (on and off site) eg. circus skills, drum workshop, puppet making, visits to theatres.
Free (although a refundable deposit of £10 is required, which is paid back if the child has attended).
Years 9 and 10 activities week : 25 - 29th July
Includes visits to Woodmill, Marwell Activity Centre, Romsey Rapids, and indoor activities, eg. trampoline, basketball.
Free (refundable deposit of £10 required).
Street Sport
Various activities (football, basketball, skateboarding, etc). Sessions are free or there may be a small charge. Contact James Coney (Sports Development Officer for EBC).

Local venues include : Thornden school. Mountbatten School, Romsey Community School, Testwood School in Totton, The Atherley, Romsey.
Courses on offer include tennis, football, multi-sport, cricket and goalkeeping. Typical costs : £60 for a 3 day course, £75 for a 4 day course and £84 for a 5 day course. Many of the courses have two options: a longer day (9 am to 4 pm) or shorter (10 am to 3 pm).

Eastleigh Borough Youth Theatre
Summer workshop : 3rd - 13th Aug : 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. Cost is £75
(NB. the young person needs to audition on 18th July to be accepted on the workshop). Age range : 8 - 21 years.

Art Klub Summer School
These are just 2 hour sessions (10am to 12 noon), once per week. Activities include : pottery, mask making, T-shirt painting, glass painting.
Mondays : at Fair Oak Village Hall
Tuesdays: at Chandlers Ford
Wednesdays: at Hedge End (Youth and Community Centre)
Thursdays: at Bishopstoke (BCA centre, Church Road).

Animal Activity Days
Transport might be a problem, as these days are held at Sparsholt College.
For those aged 7-9 yrs : dates are 9th, 16th and 23rd August.
For those aged 10-12 yrs : dates are 11th, 18th and 25th August.
Cost is £15.50 per day (9.30 am to 3 pm).

Woodmill Outdoor Centre (Swaythling)
Transport might be an issue, but Swaythling isn't too far.
Action Adventure Days.
Every weekday during August, 9 am to 5 pm. For ages 8 - 16 yrs.
Typical activities include: kayaking, raft building, open canoe, archery, ropes, climb. Cost : £35 per day.
