Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the Executive Member for Education advises the Executive Member for Policy and Resources that the project appraisal for the construction of a new stand-alone four-court sports hall at an estimated cost of up to £1,938,000, excluding fees, be approved.

Reason

2.1

Hardley School lacks sufficient and appropriate indoor sports facilities and this proposal will provide a purpose-built sports hall to enable the curriculum needs of the school to be met.

2.2

This decision supports Aim 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing improved facilities which will benefit all users of the school.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

The need of the school for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost effective way of meeting that need.
