Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the Executive Member for Education advises the Executive Member for Policy and Resources that the project to undertake internal alterations to the existing building and improved accessibility and car parking at an estimated cost of up to £699,032, excluding fees, be approved.

Reason

2.1

To carry out a second phase of internal improvement works to include fire evacuation facilities, refurbished and upgraded science laboratories and a new performance space plus external improvements to accessibility and car parking.

2.2

This decision supports Aim 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing improved facilities which will benefit all users of the school.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

The need of the school for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost effective way of meeting that need.
